I think it seems pretty sweet having your own little generator in your backyard and not needing power lines. But I know some people that have generators at house's already, so it doesn't seem to crazy.
This seems really neat that something so small can generate soooo much power. It is cheap and very clean, making it super efficient. It is simply combing oxygen and fuel. It could change the world.
I think it is a great idea as long as the fuel source has no negative impact on the environment. It is made of low cost ceramic material and because it operates at over 800 degrees Celsius it has a high electrical efficiency and fuel flexibility.
it is a box that turns o2 into energy by a chain reaction. they cost about 700,000 - 800,000 dollars and it takes 2 to power the avg. american household
We (Brandon and I) think that these new forms of electricity are CRAZY but sweet ideas. I would as well be skeptical about their use, but we found that they are highly exceptional because of the following reasons; a. low cost material b. high efficiency c. fuel flexibility d. reversible (meaning it can be used for energy generation and storage) These devices have already saved eBay more than 100 000 dollars and they're only using for 15% of their energy! How much could they save if they were to use it for 90, or 95%? and how much fossil fuel would we save? Brandon and I think we should install these in the school. We could use the money we save towards school clubs or activities, things that are WAY more important for a students future than say, heating (or attempting to heat...) the school district's buildings.
This is an interesting and cool way to make electricity. By using oxygen and fuel to create electricity with no emissions is a great discovery. However, they are not planning to use this for the pubic for another 10 years. But once we do, it will be a great energy source.
Anthony Stickle i think that this would be a great idea. but the costs might be expensive to start. maybe the payback is short. but it might be a complicated system that you had to goto school to learn about or something. and paying people to inspect it would be a lot.
I was surprised to see that Wal Mart, Ebay, and Google are already using this technology. It’s a collection of fuel cells which are the building block of this. They're skinny batteries that use oxygen and fuel to create electricity with no emissions. There are no emissions because it's a chemical reaction, and nothing is burned. Beach sand (scandia stabilized zirconia) ceramic plates are used, one side is painted with green ink, and the other is painted with black ink. It converts chemical energy to electrical energy in one step. I think that these could be very beneficial, because they are so much smaller than full scale power plants. It's also very beneficial that they do not give off any emissions and would not further damage our ozone.
Samantha Brandon says- I agree with Anthony its not worth the 800,000 dollars for the new model. Because even tho the pay back is within 5 years its still not worth the start up money. Also there could always be problems that can occur for a new project
I think it's really cool how it uses oxygen and basically any fuel source to make electricity by producing a chemical reaction with the fuel cells and it does it in one step which makes it really efficient. Even though it's very expensive, i think it's a great source of electricity
I think this is a really cool way of creating energy. The thinking behind this is really awesome and this will be the future. Before we know it they will get smaller and smaller and start to run planes, boats, cars, etc. But it'll be another 10ish years before the big ones start to go into play, but we'll see.
It's pretty cool that you can now have your own generator that powers your whole house! i think that 800,000 is a lot but it could be more. and to only have a 5 year pay back period is pretty good!
Asier Atienza I think is a pretty good idea because then you don't need power lines but the problem can be that is expensive and for people who live far from cities if smth goes wrong tht will be serious problem but is a sweet solution.
Anthony Stickle these might be expensive but they would be good for one household. maybe we would have to pay a lot of money to get them fixed too. might be worth it.
It turns oxygen into electricity, but its a super expensive invention. They would be really expensive to fix, if they were to break down. Plus, it would cost a lot for a single house.
If we could find a way to make these less costly, then lots of corporations would use them. It is a very good way to power businesses and houses though.
The idea of these bloom boxes is great. However the sheer cost of having to spend $800,000 will easily scare many people away. if they can reduce the cost i think many people will use these. the idea is awseome, it uses oxygen and some sort of fuel like natural gas or bio fuel to create electricity with no emmisions.
I think the idea is amazing and how the energy is created is efficient, but the fact is they aren't very affordable. I mean $700,000 for one of those, good luck getting that much to pay for it.
this is a new and great way to generate energy, but as of right now its not perfect. Most families couldn't afford something like this, so the creators have work to do.
a box that can convert oxygen into energy is quite ironic, because it's really our ultimate type of energy we use it every minute. the only downfall is that it's relatively expensive for the general population.
I'm shocked to see that companies such as wal mart and ebay use this, and it's not well known about. I think it's kind of cool that it uses batteries that are super skinny because they use oxygen & fuel to create energy with zero emissions.
The bloom box is a very good idea and it is phenomenal that something so small can power a house. The downside to this technology for the time being is that it is outrageously expensive. until they get the price down I do not see it being a very sought after power source

i think these could provide an excellent way to provide energy to individual homes but the technology will probably cost too much to be effective
ReplyDeleteI think these could be very useful in the future and are a good way to power your house and buildings
ReplyDeleteit may cost alot however, still a good idea

ReplyDeletesounds like a great idea but it will be burning a huge hole in some pockets. drop the prices and you got my business.
